Well lately there has been some senseless political controversy over what Michelle Obama ( Barack Obama’s wife) had said during one of Barack’s Rallies. She said and i quote “For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country … not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change,” . See now in my opinion i don’t see anything wrong with what she is saying. Maybe that is truly how she feels. People try to misconstrue her words by saying she is not patriotic, she doesn’t have pride in her country. How do you take that sentence and analayze it as that. I mean yeah, she shouldnt have said it while Barack is campaigning because in a political aspect it seems “unpatriotic” and it might hurt Obama in the long run…which i doubt. But i mean lets get honest i am not proud of my country when we run into areas of the world and make a war zone out of it, i wasnt proud when slavery was allowd, nor was i proud when black codes and segregation was allowed. I wasnt proud when Bush came into office because all he did was create chaos. So i mean yeah if you asked anybody i am sure there were times that you was not proud of your country. In michelle obama’s case i dont even read it as her not being proud, but as her being proud that the country can finally accept the idea of having a black president and that change could be possible. That is how i interpreted her quote. People will be people and that just shows how cut throat politics can be. Also McCain’s wife had some nerve saying” well im proud of my country”. Okay and that means?? I am not even going to get on the topic of McCain because i dont like him nor do i trust him as a president so….back to the Obama thing. Since the world of politics is such a cut throat world, you have be careful with what you say. Anything and everything will be used against you, not in a court of law but in societies eyes.
I can’t believe that althe news channels are purposely editing the clip of her statement to leave out the word “really” proud of my country. It’s only one word but it is a “really” big deal that they would edit her comment. If it wasn’t, they wouldn’t bother. I think it is criminal!!!!
personally does it matter whether she said it or not?…i think not
How could anyone say “this is the first time in their adult life” or “anytime in their life” that they were proud of their country. Are you kidding me? I thank the lord every day that I was born in this country! I count my blessings that I live in this great country. I watch the Olympics with chills and pride that our athletes compete for our great nation whether they are black white or green. Is it perfect? No… but show me a country that offers what this great nation offers. SHE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HERSELF TO MAKE THAT COMMENT!
